Working with a Learning Management System, like the Canvas pages seen here, can help coordinate online lectures, prompts, tests, quizzes, study aids, discussions, and even group projects, freeing more class time for active learning.

Active learning works best where space allows it, and the EASL classrooms at Auburn University, like others of their kind, are designed for this purpose.

One of the first adjustments for teachers new to active learning is trusting the students to share responsibility for their own education.  But with a carefully structured class and directed questions, then you and they will both soon learn that trust. (6 min.)
